Mind you this is with the one time I had it happen to me.
Booting up Renguard caused a bit of a hang while it was trying to connect. The hang this time was a little more than usual, but I had connected and went to join a game.

I quit Renguard and reloaded it. The "hang time" was normal, and I was able to play fine.
I think the problem may be that despite it showing you have connected, the hanging when you load it may infact be you NOT connecting to the network, despite the affermative reply you get from the client.
