Ok, I finally bit the bullet and built my new system.
Here's the specs:
Antec Performance PLUSVIEW 1000AMG LE Case
Antec "TRUE380" Power Supply
Intel D875PBZLK Motherboard
Intel P4/ 3.0C GHz 800MHz FSB, 512KB L2, HT
Kingston Dual Channel Kit 1G(512MBx2) DDR PC-3200
WD Raptor 36.7GB 10,000RPM SATA-150 Hard Drive
Asus 16X DVD-ROM Drive
Win XP Pro
(Various other parts ie. round cables, LED fans, etc.)
For now I'm still using my old video (GF4 Ti4200 64mb AGP) and sound (SB Live 5.1) cards, but even with those this thing rocks! I used to be able to get a drink, fix a sandwich, walk the dog, wax the truck, etc... while waiting for Renegade to load, but now if I blink, I miss it. Sweeet!
Anyway, with my old system I used Norton Internet Security & Antivirus and it worked pretty well but it seemed to conflict with some other programs (AutoCad for one) and I'm wondering if anyone else has had problems with Norton Software. My brother-in-law suggested staying away from anything Norton and using Blackice and McAfee, neither of which I'm too familiar with (but are readily available to me). Any advice here on any of these programs would be appreciated. Thanks.
