So I just finished setting up my new computer (about a weeklong process). I'm running Vista x64 (User Account Protection OFF). The renegade installer wouldn't run, even in compatibility mode, so I resorted to copying my files over from my old machine and bringing the registry entries too. I kept all the paths the same.
After struggling with WOL thinking that it wasn't installed, I finally got it to log on so I could play multiplayer. It did the bandwidth test, then...
"There is a new version of Renegade available. Would you like to download it at this time?"
Well, last time I checked, the latest version downloadable in this method was 1.037 (I should know, I released the no-cd patch for it).
"Well, whatever," I thought. "It's been a few years since I've been active in the community, maybe BHS has released something new, etc." So I downloaded it. It was the same 'ol 1.037 RTP patch that crashed saying it was an invalid patch file.
After checking my version, I noticed I am indeed running v 1.037 BH-838. Yet this "new version" message continues to pop up every time I connect to WOL. If I choose not to download it, it returns me to the menu and won't connect.
Anybody see this problem before?
Thanks in advance.
