So, post your impressions(after you see the movie), Here are mine:
1. The plot is completely out of whack and does not really make much sense.
Way too much has happened after Apocalypse. The T-virus destroyed the planet, in similar way the tiberium did except that the T-Virus does not leave anything behind, except sand and zombies, and only small groups of people live together, stealing any resources they can get while running away from or killing zombies.
I think that was a stupid choice because there is never any indication in the games (or in the previous two movies) that the T-virus could destroy the plant life.
2. Characters are pretty good, but the movie turns out to be too much like X-Men. I like X-Men, but if I want to watch X-Men I am going to watch X-Men. The special abilities that Alice has are way too futuristic and completely out of place.
There are also some characters from the games, but they mostly serve as placeholders, and don't really do anything to contribute to the story, except for Carlos, but he won't be in the next resident evil(you have to see the movie to know why, I don't want to spoil too much) and the next one will probably have even more ridiculous story.
So overall, expecting a good story that makes lot of sense and is basted on previous movies will be disappointment.
But expecting some pretty good action with some completely out of place things and some familiar character names will not disappoint you.
The end.
