I am on a home network, my parents computer on a router, and mine on a wireless PCI card. I read in the help manual that the DHCP server assigns all computers on the network an ip address. Recently, my ip address has been changed causing me to have no access to our home network, thus, the internet. I can connect to the network, however, I get a error: "Wireless network has limited or no connectivity" and on my adaptor monitor program I get the error: "You have successfully connected to the access point, but the internet cannot be found". Since my ip address has changed all this commotion has occured. I am guessing that since my ip address is changed, the one the DHCP server assigned me is no longer any good. I have read all our help manuals, and tried everything in our router configuration. Nothing works. We tried setting up the network all over again, which did not work either. Is there a way to change my new ip address back to the old ip address that the DHCP server assigned to my computer? Or is there a utility I need to be using? Help is greatly appreciated on this topic. Thanks.
