Is there anyway to makw it so that youa re able to see further in renegade, because the distance I am able to see now isnt suitable for my map.

No, it's not possible without hacking the Game.exe file and finding the proper command to edit.

No, he didnt. He just used clever placing of objects and fog to make them look good.
