here are some pics of the application:
Basic Options 1
Basic Options 2

-Create custom map rotations and save them to the the app via its config.xml, set days on when to play what rotation if you wish.

-Save batch options, save a certain confituration of the entire ini file in the config.xml.

-Full editing of both server.ini and svf_config.ini, includes validations so that you can't choose options that result in a conflict. e.g. can't select allowteamchange to yes and have the game also be laddered.

-Brenbot support, edit brenbot's config files, automesages, admins e.t.c.

- Use window Xp's or win2000 active directory to designate user accounts for maximum security.

-Limit access to only these config files if you want your clan members to be able to change settings on the server, but not have full computer access.

-Restart FDS via the web.

-application requires IIS server with .net framework 1.1 installed.

Don't crap this post, if you think the app is useless great, good for you. If you have a problem PM me instead. Razz

who uses that crap anymore, and having your FDS on your webhost is 99.9% unlikely.

Windows Active Directory. You use the built-in component of windows to add users, then give them access to the dir or just the files for your renegade fds and or brenbot.

I will post a small tutorial on how to get it setup.

who uses ISS with .net? umm microsoft, ford, gamespy, brianjar, many other sites come to mind. Also This is mean to be run on the same server you run your renegade FDS. Dante if they are using br.net they arelady have the framework installed and just need to enable ISS, very simple.

what about a warmup mode....where you can have a 90 second warmup on the map and it restarts with the same teams...WW ladder won't be affected due to it being under 2 mins.

Team's can discuss stradegy for this 90 second span...after all this is one of the best online team FPS there is.

Maybe you could do something like this on the next BR release Dante.

What about Linux support? Making it win32 only is ghay. It's more likley that linux servers run an apache webserver on the same box. Much more likley than running IIS on a win32 Server. IIS is full of security exploits.

Good idea, but i really don't think many servers will use it.. If this could be exploited (anything can be exploited these days) it could really bug up your server..

I like the look of this, i'll never use it as i don't host a server.
Even still, i like the concept.

Yeah, it's a nice concept, being able to have total control of your server from a remote location, where you may not have access to tools or be able to use them.

Just the fact it's limited to IIS, through no fault of your own is a concern for a lot of people.

There IS a way to make this app really cool and useful for some people, ask DJ if you can implement it with FDSWeb and it would be a great combo.

BTW, I wasn't implying that this tool isn't good, because it is Smile
Just stating there may be a few security issues you may wish to look at first Smile

there must be a workaround to get it to work on apache or something else, right?

Personally, if I was running the server I wouldn't worry about it being 100% secure, because I don't really think there is anyone out there who wants to or can exploit it.

Cool app.

It would be great to implment it with FDSweb, however, djlaptop is busy with rengaurd...

If you run a linux FDS server... this app is probaly no use to you because there is is no .net application driver for linux, they had chiliasp for aps apps...maybe soon they will have something for asp.net

As for ISS, well it is what it is, I have been running IIS server for some time and seems to be stable, but if you are too concerned with the security then there is nothing I can do... Crying or Very Sad

Lol, all you have to do is write the application in PHP.

See, 100% PHP running on my apache server, easy as pie!

Perl and PHP is platform independant. It runs on both Linux and Win32. I would suggest you write it in these languages, and not something propertiery as .Net. Btw - there is MONO. These are "net drivers" for Linux.

brenbot has been written in perl and works out of the box in Windows and Linux.
