I've given this a lot of thought. I've come up with what I believe are my final theories for Revolutions. Since the movie opens in 3 days, I felt it would be appropriate to start a new thread.
I believe that Smith is the key. EVERYTHING revolves around Smith. Recall the following quotes:
"Hmmm. Upgrades."
"The problem is choice."
"...felt compelled to disobey."
What's clear to me is that Smith, as an agent, continually received software upgrades to be more human and more able to deal with guerilla humans (Morpheus, Trinity, etc). Being around humans and the need to learn more about them and their behavior has caused the ability to make choices to be programmed into Smith, and after several generations of upgrading, he is now so near human that he represents a threat to "the system itself." He is the "Neo of the machines" so to speak.
This is the link between Neo and Smith. "Some part of you rubbed off onto me..." Smith carries some of Neo's code, and Neo carries some of Smith's code. This connection is what allows Neo to destroy the sentinels in the real world. In a fight between Neo, being human, and Smith being only a simulation of a human, I'm sure Neo will prevail. In fact, I would guess that Neo can copy himself within the matrix the same way Smith can.
What happens to the people within the matrix? Zion? The Oracle? I haven't a clue. Although in the last case I'd guess that the Oracle becomes a Smith. The rest of the details most likely rely on information that we haven't yet been given.
Can't wait 'till Wednesday!

Why do you assume the oracle becomes a Smith? Is it purely because you see Smith laughing in an apartment that looks like her own?
Don't forget the oracle was moved to a safe location in Reloaded, along with Seth. I really doubt they'd move back into the apartment. Chances are he eliminated the original 'shell' version of her, because she's now changed in her appearence (actress died blah blah).

Negative. In Enter The Matrix, which takes place after Reloaded, the Oracle is once again in her kitchen. Sarif protects her, but I'll bet he takes one for the team courtesy of either Smith, the Merovingian or the twins, all of whom have motivations for coming after the Oracle.

I liked the first matrix movie way better than the second one. The second one was dumb nothing really happened. After the first movie came out everybody talked about how cool it was and everytime you see something abnormal while playing a game you think of the matrix and the reality defying stunts. Now that the second one has come and gone everybody is making fun of it, like in Scary Movie 3 and the MTV music awards (lmao)
Hopefully this upcoming movie won't so pointless.

Hey it wouldn't be "a scary movie" if it didn't make fun of other films would it, I think "The Ring" is in there too.

Well, now I have a few things to say but I didn't feel like going quote happy, so I'll just do it like this.
1. To whoever said ETM was after Reloaded: It wasn't, the game and the movie coincided. IE - In the game, you blow up the power plant. In the movie, you see the power plant blown up. Part of the game may have gone slightly past where the movie ended though, I don't recall. I do agree that the oracle is back in her apartment, though.
2. To whoever said Reloaded was pointless: Erm...How? It's the same thing that happens with all contiguous trilogies (Star Wars for example). The first movie is released and it introduces the characters and gives the a minor conflict to resolve. The larger conflict, however, is unresolved and this is solved in the final two movies assuming the first one does well in the box office. Reloaded is just leading to Revolutions. I think a lot of people felt it wasn't a good movie because it left a lot of questions unanswered, but that's because they have to answer those questions in Revolutions.

The particular scene I sited took place after Reloaded.
And one more idea just to throw out there (before the movie is released later today) that I think will be explored: Hope. The architect made such a big deal of "hope," where it was previously referred to as "faith." That HAS to be deliberate, so perhaps some of the philosophy will concern hope vs. faith. Neo has hope. Morpheus has faith. Faith is hope without action, therefore, Morpheus can be controlled via the system of "the one", but Neo can't.
Bah, I have tickets to the first showing this morning. I won't post anything more about the movie until I've seen it.
