I have a Dell Inspiron 8100 that has a known hardware issue. Due to the copy protection that EA or Blizzard uses I get a particular problem with the builtin DVD/CD/RW drive. I can install Renegade fine but it won't play, I am prompted to reinsert the cd and restart the game. I had the same problem with Blizzard's Warcraft III but they sent me a patched .exe that will work with my hardware. However EA has not returned any of my emails. How do I get support for this issue from EA?

Have you tryed using the other disk to play? Support from EA? Hmm, all I can say is I wish you good luck on your quest.

Yes I've used the correct disks. It works well on my pc but not my Dell. This is the exact problem I had with Blizzard until they sent me the modified .exe. The people at Dell tell me it's the copy protection that EA uses that causes the problem with this hardware.

You can get a fixed exe that will let you play without the CD. Just do a search on Google for:
Renegade "no cd"
Remember to keep a copy of your original exe, otherwise you won't be able to patch the game and you'll be looking at a reinstall. This also applies to the exe after a patch, you'll need to then keep that one.

And remember, you're only allowed to use this if you've purchased an original copy of the game.

The "no -cd" works well. It's bugs me though that you pay $60 for a game and have to get a hack to get it to work.
Thanks for the info.
