I was wondering what is FPS and do i wnt a low number or a high number??
and i noticed that on n00b stories crimson said The crimson79 Renegade server is back online, but my new cable modem keeps dropping people. I will probably revert to the old one today. umm could that be my problem too that my cable modem cant hold people because i am almost certin that i should be able to have a lot more than 4 people and when i put it on t1 it says connection to player lost for everyone and the game ends? any ideas on how i can fix this. P.S i have cable Surprised

Cable modems are fickle like that. I host a game and after some time passes everyone loses connection.

As for hosting. A cable modem can host about 6 people max without too much lag

With my former cable i could host 12. Some cable can host 20.
What ever your upload is you can host this
4=120kbps
6=200
10=300
16=650
20=900-1mbps
Also sniper uses alot less bandwidth, almost half of a normal server.

no, you can not change your bandwidth. You get what you get and thats about it. Cable is also kind of tricky, because your bandwidth will fluxuate when other people on your line are using their modems (read: not other people in your house, but in your area. Cable lines are shared bandwidth between a bunch of different subscribers).

go to http://www.broadbandreports.com and try out their speed tests to see where your upload speed stands at different times of the day, and use homey's little chart to determine how many you can host.

MOST cable modem services I know of have an upload of around 512k.

EDIT: just noticed homey had a link to dslreport.com. That should be http://www.dslreports.com/stest

EDIT 2: While I said that you cannot change your upload speed, you can TWEAK your computer to allow it to use the available bandwidth more efficiently. broandbandreports.com also has a wealth of information on how to do this. But don't expect huge gains... You might get like 10-15k at most, but every little bit helps.
