I think about 8-10 months. But for some reason renegade wont start on my computer anymore.I had to uninstall it because WOL was messed up and now I can't reinstall it because the computer freezes when I click install. It can't be my computer because nothing's wrong with it. So I think it's my cd.

I rekon REn will never die , its one of those games that ull have a break from every few months then return with a vengence!
Like how i did , had the game since it came out and played it non stop for months !!, then got another game that shall remain nameless, played that for a month, then returned to REN !
AWsome game.....it shall never die !

I don't think Renegade will ever die.
If EA decides to stop supporting it, players can still find games through GameSpy.
The number of players might decline significantly, but servers running it will still exist.

In actual fact it is us, the Renegade community who decide how muchlonger it will last. If we all quit today it will surley die fast. If we carry on supporting it then it will have a better change of lasting a while longer. Electronic Arts have nothing to do with the life of the game really except Westwood Online. The community itself are the ones who have kept it alive. Without the community we have here it would be gone by now.

If you have any maps that you want as a CTF map but can't be bothered to learn or do then I can do it. Also the same goes for a Team Deathmatch map, where you win by killing the enemy team XXX amount of times. They take around 10 minutes to setup on a map if you know how to use them. It's really not that hard to do if you know how to work with scripts.

Gamespy is crap yes. That doesn't mean to say that Gamespy mode Renegade servers are crap. My clans server is a 30 player server ans we are always full in the afternoon and night. There is a lot of teamwork normally when the rest of the people in my clan play, especially when there are clan members on the enemy team, it gives us chance to imporve our defensive skills, normally there is not defending an APC rush from our clan.

. It is the best game that westwood ever made (I have not played generals yet so it myght change). Did half life ever die? NO. and how old is it? About 5 or 6 years (I guess that the only reason that it did not die was that Counter strike was introduced 
).
