My operating system is XP

After the auto update to 4.1 RC2 I had problems with missing files, to fix that I had to update Visual C++ to 2012

Now everytime I connect to a server the installer for 4.1 RC3 runs

It will connect to the server after the installation has finnished (a temporary solution has been to redirect renlist to game2.exe)

I also downloaded the client version 4.1 RC3 from TT's website to see if that fixes the issue but no success

Hope you guys can resolve this issue Smile

Does the installer finish successfully or does it show an error?

Does it re-download the update packages each time too?

You can remove the __update_installer.exe file (or something similar) in your Renegade folder manually, although it should happen automatically after the update.

I find it interesting that this should be looked at, considering the fact that even microsoft themselves don't even support that OS anymore.

Most issues don't depend on the OS, and this was simply a workaround. The root issue is still unknown, and probably not very interesting unless other people have the same issue as well.

They do still support it... until April anyway. The unfortunate reality is that, despite no more support for XP, many people will blindly continue using it until their PC explodes and they're forced to upgrade to an operating system that's less than 12 years old...
