Is this still an active game? How to play [message #483420]

Recruit

I used to play years back. With a downloaded renegade, updated, with no cd crack, and with game spy. Then after game spy it was resurrection as a server browser and anti cheat.

How do we play now?

Do many people still play? Lots of servers and stuff?

I haven't played myself in a while due to lack of time but there are usually at least 2 servers with a good player count.

I actually tried tiberium technology but it made the game unplayable i think cause i dont have a cd or dvd...is this an issue?

Can i just play a downloaded version?

The TT patch installs a no-cd version of the exe (afaik) so as long as you have a valid serial, you're fine.

And just saying 'it made the game unplayable' isn't really informative. Not informative enough to help you anyway.
If what G1D said is true and if you mean by unplayable that your cheats don't work, that is correct. 4.0 has an anti-cheat so cheats no longer work.
Otherwise please provide information on how/why it made the game unplayable (as in, what is not working properly when you install 4.0; errors? crashes?). Also make sure you read the FAQ in that sticky in relation to AV programs that may cause false-positives.

I didnt hack.

I dont have a "valid" key. It isnt valid for wol or w,e. But valid to install and play on gamespy or resureciton in the past. Could that be the issue?

Probably but you're not giving any details on what is not working so I can't tell for sure.
All I can say is that you need a valid serial if you play through WOL. You can also use RenList to browse and join servers.

I never cheated. I did once have a clear scope if that is considered a cheat. But never did any other mods at all, not even skins or hud like you see some do.

I was banned from a few servers from noob admins before thats for sure. Happens in all games I play. some kid admin rages after getting owned and bans.

It was a key gen that I used, not a shared key. I did actually own the game way back but lost it since.

I have played on off for YEARS at least 10 years. Last I was playing in wittebolx server or w.e where you gained credits and could build things.

Mainly play aow but some sniper n stuff now n then.
