WTF... Ren crashes my graphics and hang my system (Win 7 64) after some seconds ingame...I changed nothing....worked fine for years...

Screenshot is done with cellphone. Computer needs an hard-reset after each freeze.

Any ideas?

An idea: turn of flash when photographing reflective things. Besides that, I dont know unfortunately Sad

Additionally the last crash killed my windows aero.

Just re-run the Windows Experience Index assessment manually to restore Aero Glass.

(Start Menu -> Right Click Computer -> Properties -> Windows Experience Index -> Re-run the assessment)

Seems to be that the nvidia graphics driver is completly broken.

Even a re-installation of the driver/directx changes nothing.

PS:

Even a system restore from a one-month-old-system restore point doesnt fix the problem?! How can this happen?

I think either your driver, GFX card or Windows is completely broken, which makes it very plausible TT isn't the cause.

Yes, so Ren can be the only cause? If your hardware failes, ren crashes. If the hardware failed during ren, it may fail at later moments as well.
Besides that, hard resetting can corrupt files on your harddrive (because of write-back cache) which can corrupt Windows and other files, regardless of the original crash.

Have you tried rolling back to an older driver? Don't assume System Restore will have restored all the original drivers from that date, it's always better to manually install the specific driver you want.

It sounds very much like a hardware failure to me, especially if you did not change anything and it happened while running Renegade. Most likely, Renegade crashed because your GPU failed, not the other way around.

just tried to inplace-update windows 7.

same error after 3 hours of installing.

nvidia card is not running: error 43. sounds like the geforce card died somehow, yes....

Clean windows install *might* fix it, but theres a very very small chance of that.
