Could you try spending more than 20 seconds designing the error message when you try to log in to WOL with an invalid account or password? Could you also try explaining to people new to the game why you have to go xwis.net to register for WOL? Why are there no links to these forums? And why the fuck does the XWIS control panel look like an arcane admin panel?

Is it that fucking hard to write a decent error message that explains why XWIS.net controls WOL, why you need to use the external registration process and that provides a link to these forums?

This has to be one of the fucking worst error messages I've seen in my life. No doubt about it. So I open xwis.net in my browser and I'm greeted by this page that appears to come out of the 90's:

There's no mention of XWIS taking over/replacing WOL and why I need to use an external, out-of-game process to register a new account. There's no link to the control panel on the page. Clicking the "Renegade" link brings up this site:

it's literally a bunch of fucking screenshots of the game showing the online functionality with XWIS. Nothing else on the page.

So I decide to check out the control panel, it's this pile of shit:

Looks like I stumbled upon some administrator panel, there's no mention of what this control panel is for. The "Register" link links the Strike-Team's forums registration page. At this point I don't even know what to say. This guy does though:

or better tell new players how to use GameSpy 3D\Any other working Direct IP application for renegade with a list (realtime or not).

i never liked xwis/wol or anytype of those because my nick is too long for WOL IRC.

Just like any other reasonably large Reengade community I guess. I mean, it's just a modified IRC server. Something that barely takes any resources.

Hell, I would host it on the six blades I have in my basement.. heck, I'd add the password reset, and the nick retrieval back. Then I'd add a shitload more features.

But I do appreciate him hosting it for us. Ea would have just killed it...
