If i get a new one, does vista work with Ren? I've heard it does and does not.

It works, im actually surprised its not listed in a sticky somewhere
Install the default renegade patch
install core patch 1/2
upgrade scripts.dll to version 3.xx ( or just install the newest scripts.dll
right click on game.exe, go properties. Select "Always run as administrator" OR disable UAC http://www.computerperformance.co.uk/vista/user_account_control.htm#How_to_Disab le_User_Account_Control_(UAC
You NEED to have the updated scripts.dll due to directx issues, and you need to have it running as admin process otherwise windows vista takes a shit fit.
I had renegade + renguard fully working on my vista (32bit, home premium) laptop before i had formatted.

Surprisingly enough, you only need to run as admin the first time you log into WOL so WOL can save your settings correctly. Renegade otherwise works perfectly fine in UAC on, non-admin mode.
