I am at the end of my rope. This game used to work perfectly on my Windows Vista HP laptop. But, after having to reinstall it recently, I have had nothing but problems. When I start the game my fps says it is about 60 and stays there. But then even on the main menu, the fps drops to about 22-33. Just at random times. I have tried everything from running the program in compatibility mode to decreasing the resolution to making it windowed. When it was in windowed mode, the fps would be at around 250 then suddenly drop to 34 or so. I could not believe it. If anyone has had this problem and can help, it would be most appreciated. This problem makes the game virtually unplayable. Thanks.

Did you change the drivers for your GFX card?
Do you have core patch 2 or scripts installed?

I have scripts 2.3 and I have CP2 installed. I tried a clean reinstall the other day and it seems to be better, but not as good as it once was. Now my fps only drops to about 38, which is still playable, albeit annoying.

Well, I know for sure its not overheating as I have been using the Belkin Laptop Cooling Pad. Also, I tried to reinstall Renegade and I now have scripts.dll 3.4 Now my FPS is low (28-34) but its consistently that low so I can now play...I used to have a program for renegade that let the FPS go as high as the computer would allow, but I dont know where I got it from. Oh, well.
