I've put everything together and it runs. But whenever I turn it on, I get a weird continuous beep. I think I accidently smudged a little bit of the CPU's thermal grease. Anyone know what might be causing the beep?

Specs: (Really crappy I know but it's a first time)
Processor: AMD Sempron 3200+
Motherboard: ECS Geforce 6100SM-M
RAM: 1GB DDR2 667 Buffalo
450Watt MidATX 24Pin PSU
80GB IDE 7200RPM 8MB Cache (I think)
16X +- DVD-RW SAMSUNG

Not everything is as it appears
Untouchable

Check to make sure all the power connections are in all the way. Start with the mobo connections. If they are then next thing to check is the video card.

I don't have a insert in Graphic Card, only on board.And I think all the connections are right. (the 24Pin,12V etc.)

If when you turn on your computer it just beeps untill you turn it off it could be many things but its likely the RAM is not in correctly and/or has blown. Another cause could be the CPU. Double check that all the pins are securely in the socket.

It's a brand new DDR2 Module I just got today. I don't know about the CPU though, I'll check.

It might have been dead when you bought it. Take the module out and stick it in the other slot. Push down on one side untill it clicks and do the same for the other side. If you don't hear the clicks try it again.

EDIT: a PSU Should have a fan.. Not sure if a PSU can burn.. You should check it.

When you checked the CPU you did mount the heatsink properly didn't you? What happens when you turn the machine on now?

The monitor will display an image saying the DVI connector thing is unplugged, but it's plugged in.

And the DVD Drive doesn't work, and Power button ONLY turns it on but not off. Huh

I can't see how the DVI connector is being used when you have onboard VGA. Most mobos don't have DVI. Define DVD wont work..What wont open, wont read etc.. Try resetting the CMOS. There should be a jumper on the mobo near the battary to do so. If you cannot find the jumper take out the battary for 5secs and then put it back in.

If you seriously smelt something burning then you might have to send the mobo back. Anymore help from me will have to wait 'till the morning. I need to sleep.

Well... I think I might got a defective Motherboard, so my parents and I are going to send the WHOLE PC back to the place we bought the parts. (Cept RAM since different store.)
