Just installed renegade onto my new vista Huh laptop. I go to execute the program and I get
"Renegade has stopped working: A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
So I'm looking around here on the forums for some help and see that others have had the same problem, so i heeded ya'lls advice.
I went into properties and changed all the setting to admin and windows xp. nothing. I went as far as to set admin privlages to my westwood folder and all of the subfolders and still nothing.
What am I i missing here? Does anyone have anymore advice into what the problem is and how to fix it?

If you have renguard installed you need to also manually locate game2.exe and set that to admin and win xp sp2 mode as well.

Currently I only have ren installed. no updates or anything. I had originally installed all the patches and rengaurd before I was aware of the admin and xp thing. Not knowing if the install worked properly I reinstalled the game and came up with the same problem. Thats when I found the topics on this forum and started changing the admin/xp options.

Guide to reinstallation order

Just make the admin / XP SP2 changes before you run any programs, and do it to all of them.

Hmm.. Fuck vista? Dont Get It None of the things mentioned worked. I even un-installed and made sure the setup file was running in xp. No luck. any more ideals?

Doesn't even need admin mode, just compatibility set to anything lower to Vista. It crashes because Vista's version identifier is too long.

oh man i got the same problem(im getting help on some of the other threads but nothing is workin for me either)... all i can doright now is play MULTI-PRACTICE, and STORY mode... need my MULTI-PLAYER!!! maybe its cos its on a lap top(ironically i got a laptop too & its not working...)?

Game.exe doesn't need any changes at all. It works fine for me on Vista without compatibility mode and without administrator mode.

That just sounds like you need to allow game.exe to access the internet. Don't have vista (Don't play to use it either) so I can't be certain about its builtin firewall or anything.

yea i figure its sumthing stupid like that... i disabled my fire wall for Renegade... maybe i need to disable it for RENGUARD too?

ok well i figured out what went wrong with my copy... i didnt have a 8 letter name or 8 letter pasword... so yea it was sumthing that stupid that kept me from my RENNY..... so now im playing... i feel like a new-born giraffe, gettin killed & trying to re-learn everything i knew back in the day... its been a long 1- 1.5 years...
