I can not believe that it took me this long to figure this out. For about 3-4 years now, I have wanted to play RA2 and Tib Sun (Firestorm) over LAN. But it needed IPX to do multiplayer LAN, and all I had was TCP. Well 3 months ago, I was really board, and right clicked properties on my LAN connection. Just to see what there was that I could install, I clicked on the install button. And there it was Internet Protocol IPX. That annoyed me a little; you would think that they would have told you to do that in the RA2 read me. I also remember searching the internet looking for where you could get a card that supported IPX, and all I ever found was people talking about how RA2 still only supported IPX card, no one ever mentioned that all you ever had to do was install a new Protocol. So that’s what I am doing right now, giving anyone in the same situation a heads up.

Giggles. IPX is like really old shit, god knows why they used it in RA2/TS.

Don't know if this is common knowledge or not but, I think it's worth noting that IPX support was removed in Vista. No more RA1/TS/RA2 LANs for any of you Vistagoers.

RA1 and C&C95 work with TCP, after you use Silent Kane's patch.

It's UDP and Scorpio9a did most of the code/implementation.

I'm surprised I'm the only one who is pointing this out, but TS/Firestorm and RA2 both support TCP/IP also. I used to play network games with my friends and family all the time and we always used TCP/IP (but way back further than that we always used IPX).

Somebody with Vista should test this out to see if it works. (No reason why it shouldn't, but a definite anwser would be nice)

And Icedog, how do you get RA2/TS to use TCP? Is there an option to enable somewhere?

It was always on the list for me. If it was never there before then perhaps your network wasn't setup for TCP.
