There is a topic in Technical Help about a guy who lost his reticle plus his HUD.

To be honest I thought it'd be cool to try playing without a ret, and I was wondering if it's possible to make one?

There was a fanmap I played which disabled reticles and the player name/health bar completely in some area's. It was pretty hard to kill each other.
