Play marathon servers with a crazy number of players. IE. fnfalls marathon server with 36 players. Well, ladder points are given to the team that wins. Usually, but not always, the player that scores the most on the winning team gets the most ladder points. If you play a 4 vs 4 at islands for 7 minutes, win the game, score the most points, you may get 5 or 6 ladder points. <<<<<as you can tell, I don't know the exact science behind this. However, If you play for 60 minutes in a 25 vs 25, win, score the most (MVP), you may get 600 ladder points. The time you play in a game reflects in the finishing order. This is why sometimes, the MVP is 2nd or 3rd in the rankings shown at the games end.
Simply, play in a large server, 40 or 50 players, play long games (doesn't have to be a marathon, 50 player games usually go to the time limit) and score points. Sniping lonely soldiers may be fun, but 50 kills doesn't amount to a lot at 3 points a piece. Scoring points is also important if you lose, as the MVP of the losing team doesn't lose any ladder points.

I personally think the whole system is just random.
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt (1918)
"The danger to political dissent is acute where the Government attempts to act under so vague a concept as the power to protect "domestic security." Given the difficulty of defining the domestic security interest, the danger of abuse in acting to protect that interest becomes apparent. --U.S. Supreme Court decision (407 U.S. 297 (1972)

It's all based on the number of people in game over two minutes. Also it's proportional to amount of the game you played. Even though it'll never happen lets say it's a 20v20 and everyone loads right from the get go. Team A wins, the last player gets 0 points, 2nd last gets 1, then 3, then 6,10,15,21,28,36,45,55 and so on. It has nothing to do with the size of the server, just on how many people were in and out of the server on the winning team throughout the duration of the game.
