OK, I created an account here to post this report because I thought it may or may not be useful for jonwil and others.
This is the order in which I installed *stuff*:
Renegade, v1.037 patch
RenGuard
Manually installed CP1 since RenGuard never mentioned it
RenGuard 1.031 updated
UberMapPack (overwritng all existing files since this map pack was released post-CP1, noticed it actually contained CP2 or CP2 RC files)
RenGuard wanted to update to CP2 - it tries to download cp2.zip, but I get impatient within 5 seconds, quit out, downloaded it manually and stuck it in the Renegade folder before trying again. I read somewhere that that should be fine. =]
Installation runs fine, up until language.exe pops up with this error:| Quote: |

Renegade runs fine, except going into Advanced Game Listings in WOL mode produces an empty server list.
I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled Renegade (v1.037 patch, CP1), then dumped download.exe and cp2.zip in the Renegade directory, ran it and renamed game.exe to game2.exe -during the patching- to make it think RenGuard was installed  ... runs fine, server list back up and running. Yay. I am about to reinstall RenGuard now expecting no problems.
