Yeah, thanks. All because they couldn't hold in their hormones, none of this would of happened with ESRB. Yeah, they changed the rating of San Andreas to AO (Adult Only), but that's not what I really care about right now. In fact, I think Rockstar deserved it. Well, if you take a look at this link and read the news of the site:

http://www.gtasanandreas.net/news/index.php?vo=39

This situation is going WAY too far.

Quote:

After recent statments from the ESRB stating they wish to see modding for all games stopped, some of us decided it would be a good idea to defend ourselves from the whole "modders are evil" myth they are perpetuating. Namely that we somehow made something so shocking and offensive with Hot Coffee that it undermines their whole rating system, even though they've rated at least a half dozen titles as M which are just as (if not more) explicit than anything in San Andreas; modded or otherwise.

This is completely ridiculous. I seriously feel nervous for the game industry, it's like what Glyde said to me earlier:

Glyde

The gaming industry has come under the political spotlight

It's about time ESRB wakes up and notices that game companies have been getting away with a lot of sexual content, but this is being taken in such a dramatic and political way that I can't even stand it. I seriously do fear for the future of the game industry, all of this happened in a matter of days, and it can easily get a whole lot worse.

Unfortunatley, the gaming industry has decayed. People who were once ignorant to gaming now see it, and what they see is the worst side. They don't see the fun kids have with this kind of stuff. So they hate it and want it drowned or hanged for witchcraft.

Politics and gaming have come together. Maybe they'll get a divorce.

No. Seriously. No.

I think I'm gonna start e-mailing the ESRB screenshots from Reader Rabbit that I Artmoney'd to make the characters say explicit things. This is absolutely insane of the ESRB. Shall we punish the paintbrush makers for explicit art? Should we indite the paper mills for seditious writing?

This really isn't Rockstars fault. Instead of actually searching for where the Hot Coffe mod came from, the Democrats are attacking the people who had nothing to do with this.

Don't blame Rockstar, blame the douchebag over the internet who made the stupid thing in the first place. Rockstar deserves at least a little support, they're just buckleing under all this political pressure.

Actually, it is Rockstar's fault. Perhaps not 100% their fault, but a large amount of it. It would be different if the mod was 100% user made. However, all this "mod" did was unlock something that had been put in the game by the people who made the game. That is what is causing the trouble.

It wouldn't be a problem if stupid parents wouldn't buy M-rated games for their 10 year olds in the first place. Most game stores won't let anyone under the recommended age of 17 buy them anyway (and let's face it...there's nothing in an AO rated game that a 17 year old is going to be unfamiliar with).

This is yet another case of "let's blame the industry for our own bad parenting." Seriously...nude and sex mods have been around as long as games with characters.

The point is that there is no way to access the "Hot Coffee" content using what came in the package with the game. You HAVE to download a third-party mod to unlock it. It does not matter if the content was there in the first place or not; unless you mod the game it is as good as not there at all.

Besides, all the mod does is reveal a minigame where characters dry-hump each other. You have to download a set of third-party nude skins to take their clothes off.

And I agree with all of this. All I'm saying is that the reason people are up in arms about this, is simply because it was originally programmed into the game. Had someone decided to make a completely 3rd party modification, with new sprites etc. then none of this would have arisen. I doubt you've heard much in the news about the fan made map for Warcraft 3 that allows players to view naked people.

A better example and more known would be, the Nude raider mods for tombraider. (Yes I know in those time she still was as pixelated as can be). Altough the existance of this mod was publicly known, it didn't result in such a political struggle as this.

Question: There are nude skins for Renegade, so should Renegade be rated M too? (I wonder who knows the answer)

So does this mean that Barbie dolls and all of that are now for Adults Only since they show that same stuff? Big Grin

heh, that gives me an idea. We should create a fake site that includes a petition to label all dolls that portray life-like features as an "adult only" toy. Afterall, television, movies and videogames that portray the same thing get a similar rating!

Though to make an addition, perhaps we should send our idea to Mr. Thompson. If video games that blur it are bad, the real toys should be even worse!

A topic about Video Games, and i havent posted in it? Somethins wrong with me. Anyway.

Yeah, the whole Adult Content freak out is gettin fuggin old. It may not have been goin on for long, but still. If im forced to stop playing Halo and Renegade, opting instead for "Counting For Teenagers," im goin on a killing spree. Dont they realize that Violent Video Games actually KEEP us from going out and killing someone? Look at what you can do in Halo, for instance:
1. Grenades. Two types. Frag Grenade, and Sticky Grenade.
2. Bash. Bash bash bash bash bash.
3. Shoot people alot. If this game is known for one thing regarding violence, its this.
4. Rocket Launcher. Enough said.
5. Flamethrower*. Outlawed for a reason to be owned in the USA.
6. Fuel Rod Gun*. Think rapid fire, weaker, Rocket Launcher.
7. Vehicular Manslaughter. You can even back up over their corpses, after youve run them down.
8. You can hump the corpses, by rapidly pressing the "Crouch" button.
9. Tank. Again, enough said.
10. You can hit someone with a Grenade, or something, but you can knock them off the edge of the arena, in certain maps.
11. You can beat up the corpses of your fallen enemies. And blow them up.
12. You can knock a vehicle into someone, onto someone, or over someone.

I submit my long-ish post to the... Er... Readers, and ask: Why are they idiots?
