Looks like the next version of Windows has had a name change!
Longhorn is now Vista!

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/default.mspx

No idea if this is new or old news so don't start saying "*sigh* old news"

I'm looking forward to this next version. I hope MS don't screw it up and add shit that isn't needed.

It's not a name change, Longhorn was just its code name.

And regardless of other issues, bugfixes, patches, etc...

...C&C95 and all other pre-1998 games are practically guaranteed to not work for beans.

You can easily make those games run on xp if you know what you are doing.

Not really, even with the fixes and tweaks to make c&c95 work on xp, you still get errors, cant play online.

There is another solution, which works well. Partiton your computer. I got my comp running windows 98se/ Xp Pro.
I can play all my old games and us emy old programs this way.

So when longhorn comes out you could do windows98se/longhorn.

Though it is, in a way alot of work, but after its done, its kickass

I'm afraid we're going to a version which will (try to) prevent illegal stuff and so also prevent lots of legal stuff it does not recognise...

The problems with the old games (C&C95) is that they partly rely on 16 bit code. And that is gone in the newer NT kernel windows versions.
