Recruit

Putting a file from one PC to another? My PC's are connected by a router. I'd send it by e-mail but my e-mail is screwed up big time on this PC. Is there any other way?

if you are using windows XP;

1) copy file to sent into shared documents

2) go to my computer and ensure shared documents is actually shared

3) go to the other computer and open My Network Places. the shared documents of the first computer should be shown (it may take 10 seconds or so to find it)

then just copy and paste the file as normal.

I mean I have 2 seperate PC's there connected by a router, I need to get a file from one PC to another.

well what i said before should work anyway, the router should act as a network hub as well, enabling file / printer sharing between computers connected to it.

This truely is simple.

For a simple way, download this (dont worry, i just made it, no viri or anything of that sort.

http://files.xeonteam.com/ComputerName.rar

It should display your computer name in the top textbox, then in the listbox is should state all the other networked PC's including yours. Now open up run and type

\\ then one of the computer names from the listbox.

eg:- Mine would be.

\\home

EDIT: I updated the version so that now all you have to do it double click the computers name in the listbox.
