Should jonwil fix bugs?[ 53 votes ]
1. Yes, jonwil should fix bugs 42 / 79%
2. No, jonwil should not fix bugs and let users have the consequences 4 / 8%
3. Yes, jonwil should fix bugs but only if fixing them doesnt take away from developent of 2.1 7 / 13%

It has come to my attention, that the current release scripts.dll 2.0 is broken in some ways. Setting the mine limit for windows crashes the fds.

We are about to release a new SSCP1 version which included a scripts 2.0 based SSAOW version which also includes this mine limit setting feature. A new version of brenbot (1.41) makes use of this, and sets the minelimit automatically - obviously, on windows it crashes. works fine on linux.

This is rather annoying for windows server admins, because they cannot use a feature that was promised for scripts.dll 2.0 - instead, their server crashes each time they try it.

Confronting jonwil this this issue, he confirmed that it is actually not working. However, he says he wants to fix it for an upcoming scripts.dll 2.1, which is still far away. His reasons for delaying it that it "would probably take too much time". SSCP1 1.3 is coming out this weekend.

Crimson and me think that this is rather unsetteling. This feature has been promised and brenbot makes full use of it. Bugs, no matter where should be fixed.

Also, the ip address fix for Linux servers is broken in scripts.dll 2.0 - which makes 2 fixable bugs for a scripts.dll 2.0.1

Vote yes, if you think that jonwil should fix bugs, instead of ignoring them and let users suffer the consequences

Win32 Server Admins, post how you feel about that.

If he has the time to just fix those 2 things and make a scripts 2.01 then that would be fine....then continue on with scripts 2.1

But like he said "would probably take too much time"...so im not sure if it's feasible.

From what I understand, it wouldn't take a day long effort. Just asking that everyone should get what they orginally were promised from scripts.dll 2.0.

a proper fix for the mine limit issue (that was gauranteed not to break anything else) would take a fair bit of time to code.

It would be very cool if you can fix this soon, i have always
wanted to increase the minelimit from 30 to 35 for all maps.

It is more fair on the no-defense maps where Nod obviously has an
advantage with SBH + Spawned Remote C4 to take out structures
with 1 SBH.

In a way giving both teams 5 more mines will more balance the game
because you can mine the most important buildings properly.
On Walls/Fly for example you simply dont have enough mines for all the
buildings.

Renegade rulez Very Happy

When people ask me "Plz" just because it's shorter than "Please" I feel perfectly justified to answer "No" because it's shorter then "Yes"

Yes 2.0 was free then 2.0.1 and above went paid. I do not want to sit and debate about if IPB was going to be free or not. This is a Renegade forum Very Happy any updates on this stuff mac posted about?

Theres no sense in countinuing with 2.1 if 2.0 has bugs. Better to have a solid foundation IMO...
