What's weird is that there were no sings of a tsunami coming. Usually when a tsunami is about to come the shore line shallows out a little bit. But that didn't happen.

I don't know why people live in a place like this; it seems like every five years or so huge tsunamis come in and wipe out a ton of people.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt (1918)

"The danger to political dissent is acute where the Government attempts to act under so vague a concept as the power to protect "domestic security." Given the difficulty of defining the domestic security interest, the danger of abuse in acting to protect that interest becomes apparent. --U.S. Supreme Court decision (407 U.S. 297 (1972)

Hmm, I don't know. Possibly because they're born there and don't have enough money to get out.

As you can see, there are more countries where these things happen. even in the U.S.A

You can't avoid such things. Why are Americans still living in places where tornado's come every year??? same question.

Those islands which got attackt by the earthquake lie beneath the sea level.

that made me think of this past spring when i saw a tornado forming pretty close to my house, it was pretty cool because i had never seen one even though i live right smack in the middle of tornando alley
i think the better example would be hurricanes because they cause larger damage and sometimes go through the same spot year after year

Why do you live near the ocean where hurricanes hit? It seems like every year that there is at least one hurricane or a bad storm from the hurricane that comes in and causes a lot of damages to houses.

I'm sure somehow, it must be Bush's fault, right?

Honestly... are you really this completely uninformed? or is it truly retardation? On the very first day the tsunami hit, it was stated on just about every news outlet that this was a "rare occurance" in this part of the world.. Here's a quote from Reuters for you:

Quote:

The last time a tsunami was detected along the Indian coast was in the 1940s. When you have such a rare phenomenon, how do you design a prediction warning system?" said Satish R. Shetye, director of India's National Institute of Oceanography in Goa

Go actually watch the news once in a while before you venture in to this forum, it'll help you to not look so entirely stupid, I promise.

Tsunami(sp?) could hit west coast of USA now. Atleast that's what scientists depict.

I lived in Colombia for 6 years, from 1993 to 2000. Earthquakes were a common occurance there, but they were minor, between 2.5 and 4.5 on the Richter scale. However, in 1999, a 7.0 earthquake hit the central part of Colombia, leveling 32 cities and leaving thousands dead and millions homeless.

If there are such powerful earthquakes, why don't they just get up and leave? News flash, asscake, they can't. They have spent their entire lives there, and all of their belongings and memories belong there. Besides, where would they go? If Mount Saint Helens is a volcano that was still active, why do people live near it? The same question applies to Mount Kaui'lea in Hawaii.

Next time, use that quivering mass of jelly you call a brain.
