Armed with a two inch cannon, the Gunboat is the primary brown-water (shallow water) unit in the Allied naval fleet. Essentially a patrol boat, its missions include ASW (Anti-Submarine Warfare) to which it is equipped with launchable Depth Charges, and anti-tank and structure roles. It is the fastest vehicle on the sea, reaching speeds up to 35 MPH.
Priced at $500, it does decent damage to armor, buildings, and very little to soldiers. It only launches one Depth Charge at a time, from the main cannon, due to W3D limitations... Which ironically make it play just like Red Alert.
It can take three Submarine torpedoes before going under. Its destruction animation will show it sinking for about 50 meters before it blows up underwater. It holds one person.
Model was done by Sir Phoenixx. Set of three textures was done by myself.

Only 500 dollars... are naval units going to be generally inexpensive to encourage battle on the open seas? Or will this patrol boat just be generally fairly weak against anything on land?

The Destroyer was modeled before, but it will be redone (I'm currently modeling it.), I don't think the naval transport was ever modeled (for the game).
It took around 3-4 days, about 1-2 hours a day to finish the model.

Wait so the one on the renalert forums is an older model and this is the newer model or what?

Are you that amazingly stupid or what? Notice how "The Destroyer" is highlighted above? Notice how I never mentioned the gunboat in your above quote? Is it just me, or did I make it completely clear that I was talking about how I'm redoing the Destroyer, and not the gunboat?

Everything above "It took around 3-4 days...." had nothing to do with you, I was talking to those that kept saying how the destroyer is already done and the naval transport was done before.
