Good choice, I'm Graduating this year and I don't drink/do drugs, my advice to is just be yourself and don't let others pressure you into doing stuff you don't want to.
I have to agree with MrBOb; if you find a girl you like then go out with her but don't go out with someone just so you can brag about having a girlfriend, in the long run you will regret it.

All the rules over marijuana are so silly sometimes. No one's ever OD'd on marijuana. Perhaps in a combination, but never just by itself. It's not like heroin or crack, and to my knowledge isn't even addictive. While people may get in to habits, they don't get addicted to it. This whole business of sending kids to prison for indulging in their curiosity once is so stupid. Drug dealers and smugglers are the ones who should bear the burden, not some kids who feel the effects of peer pressure or want to try something new and be experimental. Besides the regulations, I think marijuana may actually be safer than alcohol for people just trying to have a good time.

"The danger to political dissent is acute where the Government attempts to act under so vague a concept as the power to protect "domestic security." Given the difficulty of defining the domestic security interest, the danger of abuse in acting to protect that interest becomes apparent. --U.S. Supreme Court decision (407 U.S. 297 (1972)

Think about what you just said. NEITHER IS SAFE! Do you realize how many people die due to drugs/drinking? Do you? I do, personally. And let me fucking tell you, its not fun. So before you make a stupid ass comment about a "GOOD TIME" think a little. Think about what your saying, and think about the emotional effects it can have on people. Because Ill tell you what, finding out that your neighbor, and someone you grew up with all your life is dead is not fun. Not fun one fucking bit. You know whats worse? Having to see their family in shambles. Having to see your friend in a casket, when it doesnt even look like them. So fuck you, and fuck your good times.

Dear DBB:
1) I never said either one was safe, just that marijuana can be safer than alcohol.
2) Yes, a lot of people die due to drugs, but how many people die due to marijuana? If used carefully it truly is not a very dangerous drug compared to things such as heroin, crack and cocaine. However, it does impare your judgement and should not be taken while operating cars.
3) Why do you think a lot of teens use drugs? Perhaps its so they can have a good time. I have never used illegal substances nor do I plan to in the near future.
4) If someone close to you died from illegal substances, I'm sorry, but f*ck me not.

Yes I overreacted, but I guess thats natural.
1-You did sympathized with it, therefor I came to the conclusion you were a user and felt you were safe and not in harms way.
2-I dont know the statistics, marijuana can be good for some people. But, think of what it does to you, think of how many people 'hot box cars' then go driving. Enough said.
3-Good on not using the illegal substances, Im proud of you for that. And im in the same boat with you as that. Teens are dumb, teens cause death, teens do it for show.
4-You are correct, fuck you not. I overreacted, but your post made it seem like you were a sympathizer. Sorry if I offended you, but it just touched close to home.

1. Marijuana and alcohol are both drugs and both have adverse effetcs.
2. Drinking in moderation is not as bad as smoking marijuana, and if you think otherwise, you're lying through that hole in your trachea. You are inhaling soot and ash.
3.neither is good for you, so you should steer clear until you are near or at legal age.
4. Marijuana doesn't make losers or cause you to fuck up your life. Only people who are already losers or already have a fucked up life will be shafted by it's use. Just the same, getting stoned all the time can cause you to mess up your priorities, so steer clear of pot.
Gunrun, just be yourself when talking to girls. It will all come together in time. You're still young, and you've got a lot to learn. Just be open, friendly, and yourself. Don't try to be anything else. If a girl is into you, then it'll come together. In the meantime, as to how to get girls, try joining sports/choir/school activites. You'll be surprised as to how many new friends you can make (and how many people you may have known for some time will become your friend). Don't be afraid to approach girls and talk to them or make small talk. That's the biggest mistake you can make.
Be yourself and don't be afraid! I have full confidence that you will do fine man.

Sir Phoenixx | Freshmen year is by far the hardest out of all 4, Senior year is by far the easiest...
I finished all of my math, science requirements before my senior year and social studies before the second semester of my senior year, so I don't have to do that much anymore.
(btw, I graduate high school in 13 days!)
|
Damn you, all I needed was 1 credit and attend 1 semester and I could have graduated early....but I decided to take some AP coarses.
Oh yeah for the tips. Dont piss off your bus driver, sit down and shut up in class, work like hell so you can slack off later, get on the good side of every teacher (even the ones you dont like), and......well......find a pratical girlfriend that understands grades, and money (By far the hardest part)

TheGunrun | Thanks for the advice guys. I really apreaciate it. Got any advice for get'n girls?
|
I realize this topic is old but um...make sure you're not uglier than Austin Powers and don't be SHY. That's pretty much all there is to it, also, don't let them get emotional or anything, or don't let them know you care too much about them, you might end up getting played.
EDIT: BTW, don't just rush yourself and ask out the first girl you meet. What you wanna do is meet a LOT of girls and just mess around with the ones that like to get horny with no strings attached. If you wanna try to have a SERIOUS girlfriend be ready to forgive a lot and admit you're wrong EVEN WHEN YOU'RE NOT, something I can't do, nor expect a lot of people to be able to either
EDIT #2: If you want a talk sometime add me on MSN at x15incherx@hotmail.com I like guiding people down the right path

I started junior year two weeks ago, and it is by far the hardest year of school I have ever taken. EVER.
Anyway, don't concern yourself over your image, or what strangers in there think of you. Friends are gained by them knowing and liking your personality, not the image you convey.
Shyness is frowned upon in high school, but don't worry about it too much. I've found out that just by keeping your mouth shut and listening to people introduce themselves to others, you can find out more about them, and then, when they decide to talk to you, they don't have to go through the process of introducing themselves.
And the most important thing of all: RELAX. This isn't the ultimate test to see if you will succeed or fail in life, so just roll with the punches and try to play the cards of Fate the best you can. Just be yourself.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act but a habit. - Aristotle

OMG Gordan Freeman! Where does he keep his crowbar, did you ask him what it was like in Black Mesa? LOL!
Well, High School is fairly simple, don't get all worried, it's easy, when you get homework do it, when you get a project do not put it off, try and keep your grades up, just use your common sense really. High school isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

My advice, is to be outrageous. Do things that others might not. If you think a Hawaiian shirt over snowpants is cool, than by golly wear it. If you think of something funny, say it, and if you get the opportunity to turn your teachers desk around, and put their chair back up to it, by golly do it! (only for cool teachers though). I try to do whatever I can think of and it's all that keeps me going. If you go through high school as the generic Carbon Unit humanoid you'll prolly want to kill yourself. Don't wear only one color or not eat certain foods to be different. The point isn't being different, it's doing whatever you feel like. In short, be crazy, but as a stipulation, be legally, sanely, crazy. Don't put yourself in any harm or such, but if your gonna get to class early, and stack all the desks into a giant pyramid. (Works best in a western civilization class) By golly do it! I did and it was pretty fun, lol.

Be yourself, blurt out random stuff in class (people will laugh examples: "Socket Wrench" Just saying this will make people laugh there asses off, "I work at mcdonalds" This one is a classic" Don't be a shy little bitch, no one will like you or care to get to know you, be loud, Dib;t vue a F**k what anyone says to you, if a senior says "HEY F**K FACE" give it to them right back. Heres somethin i do and people ALWAYS smile or laugh. Just walk up to a random person in the hall and even your freinds and be like "YOU LOOSE" or "WHATS UP LOSER"
As far as girls go, be yourself, be funny, be a risk taker, treat them like there godesses
