I'll upgrade when Windows 7 is obsolete. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Got it, much faster than Windows 7. Just an incredible speed, make you win FPS in every game.

At first, the new start screen didn't bother me. I'm normally using it for a few seconds at most. But then I realized that unified search is gone; no more finding apps/settings/files requires either starting search with a different keyboard shortcut than "winkey" or 3 other keystrokes to switch the filter afterwards. Then I found "Start8" which claimed to bring back the start menu from 7 and it does a great job (unified search and everything.)

While not unified you can do <startbutton> <arrow down> and select what you're searching for that way. If that's the only problem...
|
Doing that just selects the second tile on the screen, not what I want.
Omar007 wrote on Fri, 30 November 2012 14:56 | If I need to find something I just tap the "Win" key to open the Start Menu and then I just start typing my search query.
It'll default to searching in 'Apps' (everything in your Start Menu) but you can select another location on the right hand side.

Right, and I've been doing that since Vista; I'm fine with the whole start screen because I'm usually only in there for a couple of seconds because of quick searching. With the filtered search (and the inability to just have it search *everything* at once) I'd have to remember to use the appropriate shortcut to start searching (winkey+w/q/f), click on the filter, or remember the non-intuitive keystrokes to change filter after I've already started searching; not cool.

You really want apps/shortcuts and settings unified that bad?
I haven't been bothered by the fact that it was filtered. TBH I hadn't even noticed they split up settings from apps/shortcuts untill you mentioned the missing unified search. I automatically use the filter I need without a thought whatsoever. Been doing so since the first time I used W8 xD
/If you hadn't said anything I might have never noticed it tbh lol

Bad enough to toss a couple of bucks at some other programmers that fixed it? Yeah. If I was using only this computer, I'd gripe a bit and then deal with it. But I need to use quite a few different computers for work and it's bad enough keeping Windows and Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts straight.
