I still think that BK has the right to prohibit people from eating on their property (outside on the parking lot) but I don't think they should have the power to prohibit people from eating inside their cars even if the car was in their lot.

I dunno about others views' but to me, they simply cannot come inside my car. It's ridiculous.

Besides, think about how the heck will they be able to enforce this ridiculous law? I don't think this law can be enforced other than the sternely worded sign.

Oh I know! BK hires extra staff on parking lot patrols to enforce this law...they go around the lot and look into cars where there are people eating and kindly point to the sign and tell them to stop. Sarcasm

I don't believe the township should have the right to force people not to eat in their cars on the lot. It's not their property and it's not fucking directly infringing on anyone's rights whom lives in the city.

I say, just go park nearby and eat in your car there. There are probably other businesses nearby with parking lots.

Anyway, in a related story... we have this Mexican food joint that we used to love to go to. It's just about the best food you can get after midnight, and unlike other Mexican food places, this one cooks the food in plain view of the customers.

Anyway, the problem was, if you went between 2-3am, which is after the bars close at 2, there was ALWAYS a bunch of drunken degenerates. We saw it all, black and Mexican gangsters getting into fights in the parking lot, whores of every shape and size, and even the occasional homeless guy who would come in to use the "water" feature on the soda machine to give himself a little bath.

Eventually, the police got tired of having to come to this place every Friday and Saturday night to break up a fight, arrest people, and occasionally call an ambulance for the guy who just got beat on the pavement. They forced this business to close its doors from 12am - 5am every night. I personally believe this is a huge abuse of power, especially because this business probably brought in hundreds of dollars per hour during those hours and they're being hurt by this. I don't understand why the police are allowed to do this. We rarely go anymore because we generally went after poker nights or early in the morning when fast food is your only option.

This Burger King thing is equally bullshit, but the sign says "by order of the township", so Burger King is the victim here, being forced to hurt their customers. I'm sure the price of sending a guy out once a day to clean the parking lot is well worth the profit made from all the people who stop there because it has apparently become a place where it's easy and acceptable to get a meal without having to get out of your car.

I'm the bawss.

Question: Is the PARKING LOT under the ownership of the business or the township/third party?

There are many places that do not own their parking lot, but rent it from the people who own the entire lot. This could simply be the township not wanting to put up with it. No abuse of power of any sort if it is the township who still owns the lot (or a neutral third party owns it and who asked that the sign be put up)
