SuperFlyingEngi | You entirely misinterpreted what I said. Try again.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt (1918)
"The danger to political dissent is acute where the Government attempts to act under so vague a concept as the power to protect "domestic security." Given the difficulty of defining the domestic security interest, the danger of abuse in acting to protect that interest becomes apparent. --U.S. Supreme Court decision (407 U.S. 297 (1972)

And it would be nice if I didn't have to restate myself in front of you, but there is nothing more to say.

I don't think this is the first; I remember hearing about another woman back in the early ninties in a similar situation to Terri, though the media coverage of that particular story was nowhere near as big as it was in Terri's case.
This was an extremely bad situation that, unfortunately, ended with one of the worse possible outcomes.
May God bless Terri Schiavo and receive her spirit as her life in this world ends and her life in the next begins with Him.
So, SuperFlyingLiberalTool, who needs to die next, since you seem to think you've been endowed with that authority by God himself?

SuperFlyingEngi | Terri Shiavo has been braindead for over a decade. The pretend rumor that she hasn't is a lie perpetuated by Republicans in the media in an effort to create yet another wedge issue of morality.
|
Quote: | What they, and Terri's family have done, is rob the husband of an incredible sum of money keeping a body without a brain on life support.
|
Quote: | Letting the body die from lack of sustenance is not morally wrong to me, since there is no brain to suffer from it. Even if there were, she's under so many drugs she would feel nothing anyways.
|
Quote: | Nope, still 14 for another 2 months. But my dad is a huge science buff, and I can't help but live under his roof.
|
SuperFlyingEngi |
You've made no attempt to address it.
You obviously have made no conscious thought about what I'm saying
And I'm the mindless "tool"
.
|
I don't need to, I have all the info i need in a few short lines. YOu support it and say its not morally wrong to you. Burn in hell, or better yet, go starve to death.

I never had enough evidence to support whether she was braindead or not. I suppose the courts did, and it was their decision. I only hope for her sake that they were correct and that she didn't suffer. But we hear stories all the time of people who weren't entirely knocked out with anesthesia and feel everything and can't say anything... and other sort of stories like that... Heck, I just saw an episode of ER where the woman suffered a blood clot which prevented her from communicating but in her head she was completely alert and going through hell being unable to communicate.
Personally, I'm not going to believe how Terri was doing based on what my party says. SFE, with each passing day you are becoming a more and more disgusting human being, and I really hope that one day you wake up and grow a brain of your own. You may be knowledgable, but you're far from smart or intelligent until you can formulate your own opinions, which I have yet to see you do.
I'm the bawss.

Y'know, I can at least understand the other side's position on this issue. I would venture to say that the majority of people out there who think she should die at least do it out of some sense of compassion for her being (Neal Boortz wrote an article that I feel reflects the feelings of many of the pro-death-for-Terri people), but SuperFlyingLiberalTool, you haven't shown a shred of compassion for her or her situation at all. You just had to instigate an argument in her tribute thread and trash the whole mood of it, didn't you? You haven't shown a bit of decency or even empathy for her; you just regard her as an object to be used to try to prove your "Republican enemies" wrong.
What a sad, miserable fuck you are, and I mean that with every ounce of my being.

You guys are all so full of shit it's seeping out of your ears. Don't give me this Christian-Republican, "I'm morally superior" bullshit. You don't know Terri, and when it comes down to it, you don't give a shit about her since her death doesn't directly affect you in any way at all. Terri was declared dead this morning, but nothing has changed as far as her level of awareness is concerned. How DARE you compare a 15 year old boy to a Nazi concentration camp soldier? Being brain dead ALREADY is different from being GIVEN pain killers IN PREPARATION for being starved. What a fucking awful analogy.
Quote: | say we all grab our forks, spears, and torches and jump SuperFlyingEngi. Then we'll tie him to some stray telephone pole in Wisconsin and video tape him die of starvation.
Then we'll make up bullshit on how he couldn't see, hear, or suffer from any of it! w00t!
|
YEAH! RIGHT ON! That's justice at its best. Especially seeing how Terri's husband actively beat up his wife and got her to a brain dead state. I think he ACTUALLY had a pitchfork while he was doing it too!
Stop making shitty analogies.

You're right... I don't really care about her existence in life one way or another... if she'd never got to this state, we'd never hear a word about her. It mostly matters in the "what if this happened to me" sense.
I'm the bawss.

You're really not making the connection in my train of thought as to the difference between having a brain and not having one. I would have no reservations about my body being starved if I didn't have a brain.
j4S[p | ]Then we'll make up bullshit on how he couldn't see, hear, or suffer from any of it! w00t!
|
Are you suggesting one can see without a cortex?
gbull | RIP. I hope for her sake that she couldnt feel any of the starvation that happened to her.
|
As do I.
This brings me to an important point...
Do you all really believe that if Michael Schiavo had decided to keep Terri Schiavo alive, that I would be saying, "No! Kill her!" Of course not. My business in this thread is not supporting the death of humans for some weird reason, it's in defense of the court system. Republicans have been trying to sow seeds of dissent in the public against America, and this is just one more attempt to do that. Look at cowmisfit, "we shold ignur lawes too rexcuu teh ladey aganstt teh rooles of Amrica! Oh, i hait yoo tu!"
Just recently, Republicans have also been launching attacks against the 11th circuit of courts, with a bunch of phony reasons for why it should be divided, things like "legislating from the bench".
The country has already decided where it stands on the issue, with 82% of Americans supporting 28 court decisions in a row that Terri Schiavo's wishes are not to be kept in a persistent vegetative state. And yet, the majority of speakers on the media are loud, religious right wingers who denounce facts and endorse anarchy. And that's not cool.
Crimson | SFE, with each passing day you are becoming a more and more disgusting human being
|
Uh...?
Crimson | You may be knowledgable, but you're far from smart or intelligent until you can formulate your own opinions, which I have yet to see you do.
|
Oh, honestly. Does my opinion on brain capacity depending on how much of it is left not count? I mainly just bring up my dad's thoughts because it makes you all so happy.
Hydra | but SuperFlyingLiberalTool, you haven't shown a shred of compassion for her or her situation at all.
|
So you've decided that I have no compassion for her? I could dress up every post with how sorry I felt for her, but that would have no bearing on relevant issues. Of course I feel sorry for her and the people around her, but I figured that would be a given. I suppose you couldn't tell. Hm...I suppose I'll quote your colleague cowmisfit for this one,
cowmisfit7: no were not assholes
cowmisfit7: we just ain't sugar coat fuckers who tippy toe around subjects
For once in his life, he speaks well.
Hydra | You just had to instigate an argument in her tribute thread and trash the whole mood of it, didn't you?
|
There was no mood. Mine was the second post, as you might recall.
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt (1918)
