I've noticed that when I'm using free aim after installing the latest patch that it randomly goes back to centre, as if I have let go of the V key despite firmly holding it down, and I also know I'm not the only one to experience this.

Anybody else got this or is it simply bad luck that Jason and I have this error?

totally caught me by surprise, Hypnos...I am a massive free-aim user and noticed no problem when I played today. I have my v-key reconfigured on my right-mouse button, however...I will keep an eye out for any gremlins.

I have the same set up as you, but when I use it seems to suddenly jump back to the centre quite frequently.

I know that when I use it I tend to be facing to the right of my target and then bring it back to the left (so when it centres it automatically makes me face the right, hence why I noticed it straight away)

It isn't a mouse problem, chances of two people getting the same mouse error simultaneously after updating?

You mentioned you have it reconfigured to a mouse button. Can you try mapping it to a key and see if it is due to that?

I had this exact problem. I use right click for free aim and the spring on my mouse was bad. I got a new mouse and It's fine now.


This will also always happen with vehicles when using free aim when you have lock camera to turret checked.

I used space bar for a while in TmX; I didn't have this error. I changed it back to mouse, it worked fine until the map changed.

I've changed mouse and this still happens, it's not a problem at my end.

Don't suppose you use a wireless keyboard Hypnos? If you do, it could be a bandwidth issue. I had an issue with holding multiple key combinations in the past that'd cause some keys to get ignored on wireless keyboards.

If not that, do you notice any low frame rate when it happens, or any other anomalies?

You didn't use to run the game full screen and run it windowed now or something to you?

I would almost think it sounds like something else interrupting windows' focus on the game, but then the probably should be reversed (IE: you let up on v and it keeps free targeting).


I've had a wireless mouse that's been having issues for years now, while holding right click it will randomly act like I released my right mouse button (it usually happens when my mouse moves to certain locations, pretty sure it's my hand blocking the signal). Therefore, even though I don't have a free targeting issue, I know your pain.

Yeah as I said I'm all wired up so there isn't any interference with signal surely, I've not changed any of my set up - the only thing I have done is install the latest TT Patch Razz

i've heard some people can't bind the V key to their center mouse button with 4.0
or bind any key to the center mouse button, for that matter

could that be related to Hypnose's issue? Surprised

I re-installed and loaded up 3.4.4, and my free-aim as right click works perfectly.

I have no idea, my typical key setting is the following:-

Shift = Crouch
C = Walk
T = Public Chat
Y = Team Chat
Right Click = Free Aim
Middle Mouse Button = Secondary Attack
Left Click = Primary Attack

The rest of the movement keys are default.

Not sure man, though I was playing with Hate the other day and he said that he was having problems with free aim on his middle mouse button. Not sure if these problems are related.

I have my free aim set to the right click, same as you, and haven't had a single problem :/
