Beware of DJTachyon on the Ultra Fast Server. Playing in Hourglass today as Nod. Hand was down and things looked grim. We organized multiple flame rushes and finally took out the AGT. WooHoo!
SERVER SHUTDOWN!
The nOOb host shutdown the game, and GDI won because they had more points. Half of the players started *****ing, which they should, but DJTachyon just chuckled and typed LOL,LOL,LOL.
For some stupid reason I stayed. Next map was field. Again I was Nod. Some of our players start the tunnel nukes on the refinery. A tactic that BOTH sides can use. What does DJTachyon do? He deactivates the beacon ability. I type some choice words and leave.
If I was in the same room as him I would beat the living tar out of him. He makes a great game frustrating. I call out to all to make this jerks existence on WOL a living hell.
Is the DJ a clan name? If so, they must be a clan of wimpy nOObs.

If the title of the server was Ultra Fast- No N00BS, then the clan would be BJT, but I doubt it, as I think the server I am thinking of is usually a dedicated server.

Hold on a second, there's two things one with that. You got server shutdown, but stayed on to play the next map? The only way that can possibly happen is if everyone on one side changes teams or leaves, or it's a dedicated server - which it obviously wasn't.
And you can't deactivate beacon ability, it's impossible. The closest thing to it is to deactivate pedastal win, which you can't do mid-game.
Also, why did you post this on the tactics forum? Personally I think you're a n00b and a sore loser who is trying to give this guy a bad reputation.

u can end game which i think is what hes talking about and if its dedicated the host can talk and listen...deacitivate beacon maybe he was smoking something on that one

I knew my topic would get me flamed, and I hate to sound like a sore loser. I don't like losing, but if I lose fair and square, then I have nothing to complain about.
Let me try and explain exactly what happened on the ULTRA FAST NO nOOb SREVER. About ten seconds after we destroyed the AGT on Hourglass, a screen pops up. Game cancelled due to server shutdown. GDI wins. Now if the server shutdown for real, it would not start a new game like it did. The host terminated the game cause he did not want to lose.
The nex game starts, on Field. Some of Nod starts tunnel nuking. The host types a message that it is a bug, and a few seconds later a translucent screen pops up saying FIELD TUNNEL BEACON CHEAT DEACTIVATED, or something to that effect. Then I left.
These are not word for word duplicates of what the host displayed, but I hope someone out here saw what I saw or at least has experienced similar events.
I will not reprint the host name so as not to flame him.
If anyone wants to see if I am a nOOb, just log on to the MONKEYLOVERS SERVER. I play there regularly and will show you I am a team player who just likes to play the game, and good at it as well!

A un dedicated server?
The host cant shut down the server at all like you said, when you typ in quit (as host) it says: only available in deicated server ect...
So or your lieing or the host has found a mod (wich i doubt strongly!)
and that pop can be done by every host and the message in it the host wrote himself!

Well Hello All.. Ohh no not the message boards! Watch out. Anyway. The Server is Dedicated. I use my OWN computer and 1.5 Megabytes/sec of bandwidth and get very little in return. I did just disable the BEACON WIN (pod placing) ability dumbass. And if I choose, as the host, that I will ban anybody who uses the ION/NUKE Wall Glitch Exploitation on Field then nobody should argue. IF they have a problem with it, they should leave. I don't really know the point of *****ing on here, cry me a river, find another server.

ohhh and the admin message that was popped up was this:
ION/NUKE WALL GLITCH EXPLOITATION = BAN
*sigh ...
if there is a really big problem with that then maybe if the demand is high enough i will allow it. but as it is .. people like the fact i dont allow it..

LOL, did you honestly think that the host could hit the "Disable Nuke/Ion through wall glitch" button - then a message will pop up saying it's disable? No. He sent an admin message out which everyone saw, that message didn't change the game in anyway technically. Personally, I don't think the wall thing is a glitch, I've never used it and never intend to, but I don't think it's a glitch. The point is it's the host's decision, not mine or yours. I also think he was running a dedicated server, which is the only we he could cause the server shutdown (the only other way is if everyone on one team leaves or changes teams). If this were the case then he was not even playing the game - unless it was on another computer - so he probably wasn't cheating.

I've also had problems with this host. As soon as I blew up one of his buildings I was kicked. The next day the same thing happened (although I'm not sure why I was able to join again... I believe when you're kicked you're also banned, no?)

k, i play on this server LOTS of times, i play on this one or "the pits" server, and i never saw him cheat or make the gameplay unfair anyway. i personally really like the server since it has NO LAG and it host a great amnmount of ppl, keep up the good work man ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

cwstuff - When you are kicked from a server, you are banned until that server restarts. Then it forgets who shouldn't be allowed in. Unfortunately, a method to ban apparently will take more effort than WW developers can afford to expend, so we're hoping for console logging which will allow us hosts to write scripts to monitor who's coming in and kick them if they're on our own ban lists.
I've seen a lot of people who get kicked for legitimate reasons and then take out their anger on the forums by saying it was unfair that they were kicked. I think a lot of us don't take them seriously. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

At least one guy listened to what I was getting at with this post. And I am sorry for not knowing the computer geek terms and language used. I just play the game and desire a host who lets the players decide the outcome, not one who interferes and shuts down a game cause he can't have his ladder ranking harmed.

DJTachyon, with all due respect, I disagree with banning ppl who nuke, please refer to my opinions (and other ppl's) in this thread.

If you want to go back to the point it is YOUR server and you OWN it, I got nothing to say there, but if we are talking/debating from a theoritical point of view (i.e. how WW made the game) I don't believe this is a bug and therefore need to be banned.

i dont host servers coz i got a 56k, there are no compatable servers for cable or dsl, so the fastest thing i can get in my local area is a 56k, so i dont host servers. anyway, isnt there a restart or reset command ![[Confused]](confused.gif) ?
