Hello guys,

I would like to play Renegade online. When entered the game (patch 1037), there are two options - Westwood online and GameSpy. I connected to Westwood online but there is noone inside. Sad
I downloaded GameSpy arcade and clicked on Renegade but it froze on Downloading configuration files.
Is there any way to play Renegade online and are there people still playing it online ?

Thanks guys

Yes, you can still play Renegade online.

Even though you already installed patch 1.037, you still have to install Core-Patch 2 and the newest scripts.

Steps to get it working:
1.Download http://download.renguard.com/cp2/patcher.zip
2.Download http://download.renguard.com/cp2/patchall.zip
3.Unzip both zip files into your renegade folder and overwrite any files if asked.
4.Double click on patcher.exe which will run the patching process.

Should you get any errors about files being bad or missing, download the relevant file from here:
http://download.renguard.com/cp2/mixfiles/Always2.zip
http://download.renguard.com/cp2/mixfiles/C&C_Canyon.zip
http://download.renguard.com/cp2/mixfiles/C&C_City.zip

http://download.renguard.com/cp2/mixfiles/C&C_Field.zip
http://download.renguard.com/cp2/mixfiles/C&C_FieldTS.zip
http://download.renguard.com/cp2/mixfiles/C&C_Hourglass.zip
http://download.renguard.com/cp2/mixfiles/C&C_Islands.zip
http://download.renguard.com/cp2/mixfiles/C&C_Mesa.zip
http://download.renguard.com/cp2/mixfiles/C&C_Snow.zip
http://download.renguard.com/cp2/mixfiles/C&C_Under.zip
http://download.renguard.com/cp2/mixfiles/C&C_Volcano.zip
http://download.renguard.com/cp2/mixfiles/C&C_Walls.zip
http://download.renguard.com/cp2/mixfiles/C&C_Walls_Flying.zip

You have now installed Core-Patch 2. Then you must install Scripts 3.4.4, you can get them here:

http://ren.game-maps.net/index.php?act=view&id=828

I suggest you then install Renegade Ressurrection. This has a built-in serverlist, which allows you to join any server listed there, without having to launch Renegade first. You can get it here:

http://www.icefinch.net

After doing this, you should be able to play Renegade online without any problems.

Perhaps the username you wanted is already in use. Since WOL became XWIS, it stopped giving proper error messages. Try a different username (must be 8 characters).

Thank you very much for the help guys. I'll try the method Anon suggested.
Regarding XWIS, I connected successfully, but I think simply there is no one there. Or I may be wrong.

Does using XWIS still work? Whenever I try making a new account on it it says Connecting.... but then times out.

Are you trying to get a new nickname? The old way no longer works sadly and so it will always time out on you. Instead you will have to go here and create an account by registering:

http://xwis.net/control_panel/

Then add your serial there and make any new nicknames if you want.

Hmm. Looks like my serial is invalid or used.

Does XWIS's server list also share the IP? I'm trying to get to a specific server and know how to direct-connect. RR doesn't list it.

The control panel deemed your serial invalid or used? aw...

Anyway, I am not really sure what you are asking. From what I remeber, XWIS doesn't list the server's IP addresses...if that's what you meant.

Not as far as I know. I run Windows 7 and play just fine. 3.4.4, Resurrection, etc etc. Thumbs Up

EDIT: Site is down but RR still show servers for me.
Unless the creator doesn't want me to, I can post the installer somewhere and link.

Download and install Client version 1.1.4 and then let it auto-update to 1.1.6
