It's been happening a couple of times now.
I just made a sherman tank, about 800 polys, spent ages doing it. Then I decided to save it. It came up with the message "This application has suffered a fatal error and will now close"
The recovery failed. Now every time I try to save something new, it crashes!! When I change and save an exsisting model, it's fine. It's just when I make something totally new.
What's going on?!

I've noticed if you apply a texture to an object then use the 'undo' command try to save your file and you get the same error.
Could that be part of it?

nope, undo texture apply actually works fine on mine. but in the menu instead of "undo" it reads
"Undo A component of the software license is| not available. The program will exit.|[Code"
Bit weird because the program doesn't exit. It just undoes the apply texture =\
