Recruit

Hi guys,

I've set up protected users for the admins on my ren server, however using the renguard password box to authorise myself automatically doesn't work and if i don't have time to open irc up i get kicked.

Does anyone know about this problem or if its common and if there is what is the fix for it? I've seen it mentioned before in earlier posts but those were years ago, and hopefully its been fixed now.

Renguard has some problems lately, I suppose that his is also related. Open up irc before joining the game, then alt-tab when you just joined and do the !auth - thingy Wink

Do you actually run a renguarded server? I don't have time to test this atm, but maybe if your server isn't renguarded it doesn't auth you through renguard.

Well it's half renguard protected, i.e. the renguard feature is running but non-renguard users can join, should that be a problem?

Don't even bother...

The whole !auth system is badly flawed and has been for some time, and can cause devestation on your server.

I won't post the full details here just incase there is a slim chance that some horrible git finds the information here and abuses someones server. But that is unlikely because this exploit has been known for some time, and has been posted on many renegade cheat sites.

Then pm it to me. I think I know what you are talking about, but I want to make sure I don't miss anything fixing the auth.

As for running in half-renguard I guess that shouldn't be a problem. Is this a dedicated server somewhere or are you hosting it from your home?
