Download the Renegade modding tools: ftp://ftp.westwood.com/pub/renegade/tools/RenegadeToolsInstaller2.exe
You can also download some Renegade art/buildings/etc. from the same folder.

Download Gmax from here: http://www4.discreet.com/gmax/ (The download link is on the left.)
Gmax is required to use RenX, one of the tools included in the above installer (It's a "gamepack", a plugin for Gmax to make it able to do Renegade specific functions and export for it.)

Look at tutorials listed at the top of this forum, and/or look at the tutorials from this site: http://renhelp.co.uk/ (Or you can search on google.com.)

(Oblivion165 beat me to it... But you still need Gmax though.)
