It's still being worked on, but it does presently work in-game.

It costs $2,400. Once you fire by pressing the mouse button, it will kick you out of the vehicle. Its harmonic resonation engine begins to work, and the piston at the rear starts charging it for detonation.

After about 15-20 seconds, it detonates.

The blast wave will look different in-game. It will appear to be more like a wall of air, a shockwave, with dirt mixed into it.

ACK, did you get this idea from Dark Reign?

I remember that these type of vehicles were in that game. They were funky, but shockwaves travelled differently but it is a very nice implementation of it Smile

Good work, I'm sure you will get it to work just how you want it to in time.

Obviously theres a severe FPS drop when the shockwave happens... Otherwise he wouldn't have turned it off O_o

Nice effect... I don't remember a such graphic aspect on Red Alert... So it's a mod based on Red Alert. Not a Red Alert copy. Razz

Ever tried reading what he said before posting something?

Quote:

It's just a trailer of the final version, it will be diferent, so don't take it as it was already final.

And by the way, since when did they say that it was a COPY of Red Alert? If it'd be a copy, we'd be playing in RTS mode right now, no?

I'll admit that shockwave isn't optimized yet, since I only worked on it for 20 minutes. I get a 5-10 FPS drop when it detonates. However, there's a more important reason why someone wouldn't show their FPS when taking a rapid succession of screen shots. Doing that can bring your FPS to 0 even if you are standing in a corner, looking at the wall.

I turn my FPS counter off when taking images like this because my FX 5200 hates emitters or alpha textures, so when it sees enough of them, it loses a lot of performance.

It's a low level card. Even one step above it, a GeForce 4 Ti 4200, can keep perfect FPS in-game when those emitters are playing.

That's what you get when you buy a Dell.

You should stop and think about what you're posting before you hit the submit button. Of course this effect wasn't in Red Alert, it's an 7-8 year old 2d game. (Btw, if you'd actually play Red Alert you'd notice that the MAD tank effect is very similary to this effect.)

OMG! RenAlert is including 3d models, but red alert wasn't 3d!!1

I didn't get a graphics card with my Dell, dumbass. I bought the FX 5200 from Sam's Club a few months back.

And... How exactly was I supposed to know that?
I also assumed that you got it with your Dell since we have a GFX in our Dell laptop, no need to call me a "dumbass" for that, it's not like if I was insulting you anyway.

The new Geforce cards confuse me. I thought the FX 5200 was supposed to be a good card! I don't know what the video card hierarchies are anymore. :-\

The Geforce FX 5600XT 256mb is at about $110 right now, and it doesn't seem to have any issues with emitters or alpha textures, even when Renegade is at 1024x768 resolution. If you ever want to replace your card and not pay so much money, I suggest you try the one I have. Smile

To everyone who seems to not like how the beam will severely drop your FPS, don't be so upright about it, of course it will for everyone. They can't make it do any better, so why are you complaining?
