I've often walked into Obis and AGT's, but the stupidest thing I ever saw was this...
I can't remember the name of the map, but there are 2 sniper posts up in the hill overlooking the battlefield. I found one there and they killed me, so I went out with Gunner and blasted at them. I got killed again. This time I went up to the post with a chain gun and slaughtered them. I couldn't think of anything else to do so I stuck around for a bit and then backed off. As I did, I saw the same person come right back with another Sakura and continue the job. I was like "You've been caught, go away and snipe somewhere else!"
No flashy signature..

Actually, I don't think this is even remotely as stupid as being run over by the harvester...

The incident I'm talking about was Complex, I was GDI. All he had left was his ref and a med tank he'd stolen due to my carelessness. I planted a beacon in his harv unloading bay but he killed me as I tried to defend it. Then he moved his med into the bay but the harv pinned his tank against the wall so he couldn't get out to disarm it :rolleyes:

i dont have a screenie of it but this is real funny
it was my first lan battle 1 vs1 i was standing with a ravashaw on the hill on C&C_under and a mammy was at the entrace firing rockets at me for like 2 mins after that i fired back he still repaired his tank when it was low on health but after about 5 mins he was firing cannons and killed my with 1 lucky shoot

I have a nooby moment I would like to share. I layed a beacon with my sbh at the weapons factory. As soon as i layed it and cloak, a apc comes by and looks at it. Finnally, the driver gets out and try to disarm it with an engineer. I easily take the apc and run him over as the siren starts, and then i just run away.

The problem with "snipers" in Renegade is that you don't need to hide and use proper tactics to do well. Playing with some people is like playing football with a dog with 2 missing legs. The stupidest thing you could do is take on an artillery across the field with a shotgunner.. or how about people that buy apaches and think their missiles can reach great lengths

I like it when people run about with Havocs and no-one can kill them...
Snipers are the bane of my existence, I got shot once from INSIDE my own airstrip, I'd just died and landed there, died again, and started there again. Some US fool got 3 kills off me in about 4 seconds.
The other one is hillcampers, ruins the game as they have 7 or 8 snipers sat outside your base with some nice tank cover, and you can't do anything coz if you're lucky enough to not get run over, one of the snipers get you... I find that much fun, not.

It all depends on the team situation, and how much people care for how they play the game. If I was in a situation as bad as your last example I'd probably go find another server. You're right, the enjoyment factor reaches 0.1. If you've played renalert, snipers only get 1 bullet and then a reload, forcing them to use real tactics instead of hanging around tunnels, jumping and killing everything with ease. I can understand paying $1000 for a powerful character but they are field soldiers and should be used in moderation.
If you still don't like them after playing renalert, I'd recommend call of duty. I assure you the rifle bullet that takes you down there will be from a skilled hand.

How do you lock the camera to the turret? My brother says it's not possible...
Also the sniper noob thing happens on just about every server I go on, I use both European and US servers, and these idiots are everywhere

you know jzin i've heard you cry about this too many times and im 100% positive now that your a n00b. if you cant get past a couple of snipers and a tank that only tells me that you are playing in games that you think your good at but u really suck at. you definitely need practice but dont worry we all started out as n00bs i know i did and i was on this same forum looking for help...........maybe u should do the same..........whenever im on i like to help n00bs learn......... at least those who WANT to learn.

2. How do they remain on the server when hillcamping isn't allowed?

K, first of all if you're stuck in a situation of tanks and 7-8 snipers it doesn't really matter how good you are you'll still get slaughered upon exposure. What you need to do is have people eliminate engineers at the back while you gather up raveshaws, mendozas and a maximum vehicle limit of Light Tanks. When your snipers have killed some, that's when you all rush out, focusing ALL your firepower on 1 vehicle at a time. Don't do things the way the TS system did it where everyone picks a target, that'll lose you the battle.

That sounds like it takes a lot of organization, something practically impossible in most of the games I'm on, as the lower half of the scoreboard seems to be Team Idiot..

True, you won't find teamwork like that in many places at all. You used to be able to do it in the Pits server but from what I've read most of the pro's don't listen to anyone except other people they know, and in any case I don't remember the last time on Field on that server where my team broke out of a hold.

I never said I was a great player, I just can't seem to rack up the points like others. I usually end up somewhere in the middle chunk of the rankings, dependent on the average skill of the rest of the players.
