I heard from a freind that EA was totally changing the game characteristics of RA3. (He didn't have the URL) I heard that they are leaving the concept of harvesters and tiberium and going to things such as aliens and futuristic gameplay. Is this true? Are they leaving the classic feel of C&C?

There is the Red Alert Universe and the C&C Universe.
Renegade is in the C&C Universe. That is the futuristic one with tiberium, mutants, that sort of thing.
The Red Alert Universe is a Soviet - Allied struggle based on what could have happened. It's an alternate world to ours.
So of course for Red Alert 3 the futuristic theme with tiberium and mutants, etc. is going to be left behind.

My "friend" is a long time family friend who used to work for Maxis before they cut him loose from his job when they were losing money.
And I have seen some preview screenshots of RA3 from cncgames.com, i think, and they look like futuristic gameplay.

Generals wasn't part of the C&C Universe. It was under the C&C name, but it wasn't in the "C&C Universe" in the sense that there was no Nod or GDI etc.

Barely?
The RA universe is about the struggle between the Soviets and Allies if WW2 had not taken place.

And, seeing what EA has already done to the franchise, RA3 will be a blast-off into uncharted, empty space- making three consecutive 90 degree left turns, landing smack dab in the middle of an island in the Pacific, claiming it as a new planet, and cheering the spacecraft (modeled in part after an older craft from a completely different rival company), as the next revolution in faster-than-light travel.
Am I missing anything?

Ok... one thing I would like to start off in saying.
"Do you really think we are going to get a game as good as the original red alert that we all know and love.?"
I don't know why I loved that game so much. The graphics are laughable and the game premise is ludicrous. Lets see.
- "Albert einstein goes back in time to kill hitler by giving him a fatal handjob, thus altering history!" -
But the game rocks, handjobs and pornographic subplots aside, i still can't find anything wrong with it. All old games had naff grafics compaired to todays halo's/half lifes/super noasark 3d - but that does not stop them from being great. I still find my self playing snes and n64 games on my pc. Why you may ask... it beats the flying fuck out of me... but I think it might have something to do with a 'good story' and 'gameplay'.
Redalert was the first rts I ever played, it bought me in to the whole c&c way of life, I still remember the first time i ever played it, I still remember the name of my favourite singleplayer level (,tanya's tale). I still remember thinking 'Tanyas hot' and 'I bet in the next game they are going to turn my soon to be wife in to a blond with big hooters and the ability to be the lead in uwe bolls next game adaptation for the big screen - think 'house of the dead' and 'alone in the dark.'
We all saw what happened with generals and realert2. I don't give two shots about bad acting and psychic squid that can beam dirty thoughts in the heads of my fighting men and woman and tape major-league baseball without implied written consent.
Both were under the c&c banner, and both had fuck all to do with the games I love. They were pretty much soulless enterties that the undead sacrificial goat fucking money whores at ea love.
Where the hell is my tiberium twilight motherfucker. I want to see cain come back and kick some ass. I want to see if second coming of cain was some sort of alien conspiracy and that the tiberium is teroforming my beloved motherearth in to some sort of alien playground, (it's pretty obvious) [/RANT]
I think maybe I will go back to being mellow, I don't know why but I just woke up this morning with a funny feeling and the sudden and uncontrollable urge to start a pissing contest with every one I meet.

I don't know what's more embarrassing, not realising that he had been fired, or spelling Kane cain. I really should pay more attention.
Although, i am surprised and thankful that no one posted,

| or some other homo erotic bullshit.
But if kane will not be making another appearance, how will it be command and conquer?
But who will replace my beloved dictator? And how will if ever will the story progress?
