buddy whoever said athlons are way faster than p4s, he/she is a moron, cuz now that p4 has the Hyper Threading Technology, no processor can beat that, athlons are fast but compared to p4s,(they arent fast).

A P4 3.0 Hyper Threading Technology 800 Mhz Feront Side Bus is 3000 Mhz
but
An Athlon 3200+ equels to a 2.6Ghz which is nowhere close to 3.0 Ghz HTT
and one more thing that I have a P4 3.0 Hyper Threading Technology 800 Mhz Feront Side Bus and ATI 9700 Pro and I get 218 FPS in unreal tournament 2003, while my older brother gets 184 FPS with his ATI 9700 Pro and his crapy athlon xp 3000(2.16).

so I highly recomend you to get P4 HTT for gaming and get athlon for running applications like 3d studio max and Maya4.

if you are a gamer i think amd is good enough, but if you are rpo at graphics and programming, i'll suggest you to use p4.

I use amd with no problem, but i have my version of windows

If it were me getting a computer, I wouldn't look at anything other than AMD. I have always had AMD and will always use AMD until it's just not possible anymore. I have never had problems with any AMD processors where as others I've known with Intel has had their processor die. Although, this is just my opinion... you can buy what you want. Very Happy

And honestly... if you sit infront of a 3.0Ghz intel and then sit in front of a 2.6Ghz AMD... you couldn't possible see a difference in speed. We're talking nanoseconds here. Ooooohhhh but with Intel, my web browser window would pop up 6 nanoseconds faster than with AMD... and as for the frame rates... what difference between 218 and 184 fps can you honestly see? Exactly... either way it's still smooth, but I bet one processor is cheaper than the other.
