I have the 6800 GT and I must say its a pretty nice card but the 800 is suppose to be really good from what I hear. It all depends on what company you want to buy from, there is some slight differences between the card but not much! Nwidia is more slanted toward AMD where as ATI is more for Intel! Processors that is!

does it retain all of the VIVO functionality once flashed to XT ?

yep,
the xt pe is the vivo with 4 extra pipelines,

Best single card around at the moment is the ATi X850 XT PE. It's actually cheaper than the 6900 Ultra in the UK aswell. If you go for SLi though, on the certain games it does support (which is only like 15 games at the moment) you may find that 2 Ultras to be faster than anything on the market where gaming is concerned. 2 Ultras will put you back £800 in the UK though.
