Today's music is all fucking cookie-cutter. They have no creativity. Everything sounds like another.

no, today's most commercially viable music is all fucking cookie-cutter. They have no creativity. Everything sounds like another.

This is why I like rammstein, no one is like them in my opinion.

Megahertz 5 is.

I suck cock and love it... absolutely love it. And I just got banned for being too immature to be allowed to post here.

My dad was a 50s guy. that is, he was born in the 50s.

the first song he ever heard that was of a rap nature, (by rap I mean fast talkin, fast steady beat stuff) was one his friend handed him before he left work one evening and went home listening to it on his headphones on a bike. the song happened to be The Message. no, not dr Dre's The Message, it was by grandmaster flash & the furious five.

anyway, that little post put me in mind of it. it's really original for it's time.. just listen to some of the lyrics and how they tie in with the rest of the song. plus the chorus, which has been copied by eminem in one of his old songs. it's one of my favourites, or old-bies as you might say. First heard it up at my dads, and I was like man, this song really kicks the crap outta modern rap and r&b. they're all the same shit, but this one has a style of its own.

now I think of bands like blazin squad, and they're a joke compared (well they're a joke anyway, but who cares).

Favorite song: "Thug Love," by 2pac featuring Bone Thugz N Harmony.

Favorite oldie...um...I want you to want me, I guess. Razz

YOU WILL NOT MENTION CULTURE CLUB OR ITS HIDEOUS MUSIC AGAIN.

LOL Razz. SR-71 made a remake of that song during a concert, that's the only reason I know about it.

He's not really the 80's buff that he makes himself out to be, don't worry..

The song you mention is by Cheap Trick, the one he's confused with is "do you really want to hurt me"

He's right. I thought it was Culture Club, but that was Cheap Trick. That song sounds similar to the Culture Club style so I'm not really fond of it... But to tell me I'm not an 80s buff because I missed one song is wrong, most of my playlist is made up of all sorts of 80s rap, metal, jazz and other stuff from that time period.

A Love Supreme - John Coltrane (I consider the album one work of music)
followed closely by
Ascension - Coltrane

...and while the classics have their place, there is plenty of incredible bands/musicians from the past 5 or so years. Not many will ever get on the radio, but... to name a few amazing artists that have had output in the last 5 or so years...

ISIS
Neurosis
The Blinding Light
Frodus
Narcissus
Sinking Steps...Rising Eyes
Extol
Rage Against the Machine
Converge
Cult of Luna
mewithoutyou
Ballydowse
Training For Utopia
Serene
DJ Shadow

I could go on for a long time. Just cause you don't know about it doesn't mean it isn't there.
