I was browsing some message boards awhile back, and I came stumbled upon this:

Ok, this is how you get EVERYTHING including lan to work under Windows XP and the latest patch manual_patch303_english.exe to function ... damn I'm good. First, this is what you need to have in order for this method to work. Have a windows 95/98 computer beside your xp computer.

Windows 95/98 Machine. #1. Install Red Alert on that 95/98 computer & the new Westwood Chat WC4221E.EXE. #2. Install the RA108USP.EXE patch. #3. Install the manual_patch303_english.exe, then run the ra95.exe so that all of the registry keys are installed, make sure the game runs, it will also ask you where you want to install the 'Internet Components' or something like that, I would reccomend installing everythig into the 'Westwood Directory' I put mine in c:\games\westwood. #4. Klick on start -=) Run -=) Regedit.exe (enter) #5. Klick on (+)HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -=) (+)SOFTWARE -=) (+)Westwood #6. Then click on 'Registry' in the upper left hand corner. #7. Then 'Export Registry File', you should see at this point down lower on the pop up menu a selected radio button that sais 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Westwood' #8. Then save the registry file.

Windows XP Machine #1. Insert the Red Alert CD Into the drive, klick the right mouse button on the setup.exe file and goto compatibility mode 'windows 95'. #2. Install Red Alert into the same directory on the new computer that you installed on the old computer. #3. Install the Updated Westwood Chat 'WC4221E.EXE' into the same directory on the new computer that you installed on the old computer. #4. Install the CCGOLDXPPATCH.ZIP #5. Install the RA108USP.EXE patch. #6. Run the game to update the registry, the game should work at this point, install the other patch too manual_patch303_english.exe, run the game again, it will ask you the directory you want to install the internet components, make sure you specify the same thing as you did before on the 95/98 machine, then it should give you an 'ERROR' or some crap, the game should NOT run at this point anymore, but follow the next steps and it will. #7. *Important* Copy the registry file that you saved from the windows 95/98 machine onto the XP machine, and click on it. It will ask you if you are sure you want to install it, just klick 'yes'. #8. Copy the entire directory from the Win95/98 machine overwritting all of the files on the XP machine. Run the Bi@ch, ehehheh, it should work, if it doesn't email me at *EMAIL ADDRESS REMOVED (so people don't bug him - tooncy)*. Damn I'm good.

Note* There is one more patch it will install after you play an internet game using the internet connection inside the game, it automatically downloads and installs.
