O.K, windows has taken over. Before windows, there were programs like MS-DOS, Volcow commander(or what was it called), DOS-Navigator, Norton commander (I have this one on my computer just for fun Razz ), and maybe more. Those Operating Systems were replaced by the first Windows 3.11(or what number was it) and then by Windows 95, but what happened to them afterwards? Did they disappear? Why didn't the creators of those programs try to compete with the Windows?
Someone explain this to me. Confused

$$$$$$$ Creating OS's required a lot of time and resources. After Windows 95 not many companies could compete with MS and survive. 95 was the straw that broke the camel's back. Being the first true mainstream GUI OS does have its perks.

BTW 3.11 was still a DOS shell.

R.I.P. TreyD. You will be missed, but not forgotten.
