I have never had Norton conflict with any of my programs before, but I had only installed NAV on my computer for a short period of time.
But the reason I did not like having Norton products on my system was because they seemed to bog everything down. Thats probably just me though. Anyway, because of this I went out and tried Blackice and McAfee.
McAfee Firewall: Did the job, but had very few options that you could change. Hardly customizable.
Blackice: Looks like crap when you install it, and does not look anywhere near as flashy as it's website. However, it does the job, and gives you basic firewall protection.
I reccomend you take a look at ZoneAlarm. It provides a good firewall service, and it very customizable. Although I have heard from people that ZA used up a little more RAM than most firewalls, its worth a peek,
And don't bother upgrading to "pro" versions of any of these. They all display a lot of harmless stuff to make you think you need their pro version.
