It is annoying to fight somone who is enjoying a nice 40 FPS as opposed to my 10,

Its annoying to fight someone with 10 FPS because:

- The hit detection in renegade is done on the client.
- If your machine is overworked it can lag the server.

but unfortunately (as Crimson sarcastically pointed out) there's nothing you can do about it.

Turn the detail level down and increase the framerate.
