There was also no MTV. I remember staying up until 11pm on Friday nights to watch a show called "Friday Night Videos". It and a show called "Night Traxx" were the ONLY place you could see a music video. And before cable TV was available, There were only 12 channels available on your rotatry dial television (channels 2-13). If you had a really good antenna you could get a few UFH channels, which only showed crap like black and white westerns.

And lets not forget how kids were treated in school. Im talking about beatings. Yes they called it "paddling" but it was a beating, plain and simple. Teachers often had hand crafted wooden paddles that they would beat the shit out of you for doing something like "talking", or not having your homework. One teacher I knew had a paddle that was made out of aluminum, and had 1 inch holes drilled in it so it had less air resistance so he could hit you that much harder with it. If teachers did that shit today kids would scream abuse and their parents would sue for 5 million dollars.
